Shanghai Associate Consultant - Job Description

We are looking for a diligent self-starter to join R3 in the role of Associate Consultant based in our Shanghai office. This person will support the work we do in China, with opportunities to grow their career and scale involvement on global projects.

This role is to be an Associate Consultant, based in Shanghai, with a future growing path into Consultant and Senior / Leading Consultant.

This role is not only working on single market.  The right person needs to support China business from SH, BJ and other major cities, with a scale across multiple office in R3 Global upon ad hoc requests.

This person would be in the team of one of the Senior Consultants in Shanghai, who reports to Sabrina Lee, our China MD.


Play a key role in supporting R3 consulting and research projects    

Individually accomplish the assignments from team projects and initiate methodologies or optimizations under the supervision of Senior Consultant.  

This would require internal and external management and coordination, and sometimes a client interface.

Typical type of projects would include Agency Pitch Management, Media Auditing and increasingly more marketing measurement projects.

The immediate need for this role is to be a key team member to support R3’s Shanghai based projects. This means you will also be travelling out of the office to face to face discussions with some of China’s leading marketers, along with a key role in analysis and reporting. 


The ideal candidate will have experience on the client side or agency side of marketing, preferably both, and around 3-5 years of working experience.  We’re quite open on past experience from Client Side, Advertising, Digital, PR, Research or Media Agencies.  The ability to manage and grow our core services will be crucial.  They cannot be new to China, they must know this market, people and working approach.  It’s crucial the candidate has a business driven mindset and is effectively bilingual.  Some education or work experience outside of China will be an asset.

Applicants should be native Chinese speakers with good English, a pro-active attitude and the ability to work independently, while being an effective team player.

Applicants should be capable of making individual researches in areas of specific fields such as client industry, or marketing / communication trends in China and global.  An ability to create sharp point of view and clearly demonstrate through oral and written work is mandatory.


Based in Shanghai and flexible for domestic business travels upon project requirement.
